Crystal Clear Weddings – Milan Goes Square

Apparently, it’s hip to be square. Paris controls the colors, but Milan controls the patterns. The flourishes, circles, and rounded 1960′s type patterns that have dominated the wedding industry are giving way to defined boxed lines in everything from invitations and wedding decor, to hip couture bridesmaid dresses. And crystals are definitely THE accent pieces to go with them!

How does this affect us? Only as much as we want it to, but the great thing is that we can take these suggestions and make them our own. The use of squares can be seen throughout your ceremony in the shape of the sand containers or candles used in your unity celebration. And if you choose to follow this trend and are creating your own wedding programs, step outside of the box (pun intended), and use an 8.5 x 11 paper in your colors. This way you can maximize style and finances.

And who says that bridal cakes have to be round? Go for a square tiered cake. Not only is it fashionable, but it makes for a better photo/video opportunity because the cutting goes much more smoothly.

Crystals. Think back to rock candy. Now you have a safe, edible opportunity to decorate your cake, your tables, even the favors that you put out for your guest.

Direct from Paris – THE Wedding Colors

It has been almost a month since Paris hosted Fashion Week, and the wedding professionals – from florists to fashion designers to planners – are excited about the new color palette that means haute couture (and now you can do it on a budget with these awesome blends!)

For Summer leading into Fall, the hot (or cool, depending on how you look at it) is sky and peapod. How does this affect your choices? Imagine adding the coolness of light blue carnations or bachelor buttons to your floral arrangements, as well as the Bells of Ireland to add a breath of soft green to your bouquets. Picture incorporating light blue and green glass (beads, bottles, candles) to your tabletops to tie in your reception. Think about clearing out the spring ribbons and bows from shops and stores in these colors to utilize in your tabletops and chairs.

Onto Fall and into the Holiday Season – colors are progressing from light and airy to rich and full without being too textured and overly indulgent. Olive. Mustard. Russet. Not only do these colors invite Autumn into your wedding with the feel of leaves and harvest, but the Olive and Russet can give a new spin to the traditional Holiday wedding.

So there you have it. Paris has spoken and expect to see these colors coming around in bride’s maids’ dresses, ties and vests for groomsmen, and all aspects of wedding favors and accouterments! Let your imagination go crazy with innovative and unique ways to incorporate these colors into your own fashion wedding week!

A Riparian Bridal Show!

There’s nothing like a bridal show with a view! KELCURT Media enjoyed a wonderful experience by participating in the Southern Belle‘s Second Annual Bridal Show. We had the opportunity to meet and get to know many brides-to-be in a relaxed setting. The atmosphere was as restful and relaxing as the Tennessee River just outside the windows. We were also fortunate to see some of our favorite fellow vendors, as well as meeting new wedding professionals that we truly hope to work with in the future.
